Question ...... How much adcoms see GMAT and GRE scores differently?

Adcoms prefer which ever you do better in. They care less about which exam it is, as long as it doesn’t detract from their average exam score as it relates to rankings. There are a few post-grad employers that would like to see a GMAT score - Finance/IB and Consulting, so it is to your advantage to take GMAT if you plan to go into one of these fields.

I’ve had a lot of follow up calls the past 2 weeks from the GMAT Club Application workshops! Since there aren’t many questions, I can share some of the most common questions I’ve had in these calls and some advice.

@Aringo, in your experience, does the experience of operations management pre MBA translate well to consulting as a post MBA career option?

I would aim to be above the average score of the school. Merit awards are typically based on how you raise the profile/rankings of the school - being above their average. If we are talking M7, 330 is a nice place to land.

yes - especially if you can highlight how you’ve worked across different departments/business units to accomplish goals

@Aringo, regarding the scholarship essays, if we write about my experiences in my professional and personal life to showcase my diversity, how to connect that to why I need the scholarship? Or is the why I need scholarship part could be omitted altogether?

Most everyone needs/wants scholarship... so the essay is better focused on what you bring to the school/cohort. These days most programs award scholarship based on the MBA application and do not require an additional essay - as they can gather these sentiments in their review. 
Which means most scholarship essays will have a specific prompt.

Common Question: How do I show leadership if I’m not a manager and do not have direct reports?
Answer: Think about any projects/initiatives/sprints you have led at work OR leadership outside of work in clubs/sports/volunteer work - these all count as leadership and valid experiences to share in your application.

Common Question: Is there a big difference between applying in Round 1 and Round 2?
Answer: While there typically are more applicants in Round 2, most schools are holding nearly the same percentage of the seats that they did for Round 1. If you don’t feel your essays/LORs are strong enough OR you feel like you need to take the GMAT/GRE again, then wait! Its not worth submitting a mediocre application b/c you think the odds are better.

Common Question: What is missing from my resume?
Answer: 
1. Focusing on the impact you had and your achievements - and quantifying them to show scale. 
2. EC’s - schools use this as a way to envision how you will take part in the program outside of the classroom. Share more of your personality with them. 
3. International/global experience - if you have counterparts/clients/vendors in another country add that to your bullet point, don’t just list travel - highlight how many countries you’ve visited or specific ones
