It should be E.

As something happens in future, schools will become more and more dependent on X,Y and Z.

Please edit answer choice E, competitive word is repeated twice.

I will go with E on this one
A phenomenon is described so present "become" is correct
due to this phenomenon results into "will become"

Official Explanation:

Answer - E

Classification: Verb Tenses
Snapshot: This problem is included to illustrate the difference between the future tense and the present perfect tense (both simple and progressive verb forms). The correct answer uses the future tense. Since all answer choices contain the words “in the coming years,” we definitely know we are dealing with the future, and choice E complements our search for a future tense. In choices A and B, the tense “have been becoming” (present perfect progressive tense in the passive voice) doesn’t work. In choices C and D, the present perfect tense is also out. The present perfect tense is useful only for events that began in the past and touch the present. Here we need a tense that takes us into the future.
