C is wrong because

the correct idiom is 'attributed to' but not 'attributed to be'

and the correct usage is 'attributed to someone' but not 'attributed to be by someone', the latter sounds very wordy and awakward

Apart from the idiom, the 2nd problem is wordiness. A clearly conveys the meaning of sentence.

I think might is used when referring to the past(attributed to..) since might is the past tense of may. Please correct me if I'm wrong
