I am confused with B and C. Although B look more correct to me than C, but I want to understand what makes C a wrong option choice ?

There are two common ways to express an IF-THEN conditional of this type:

1) Present tense to future tense: If X happens, Y will happen
2) Subjunctive to conditional: If X happened, Y would happen. (or) If X were to happen, Y would happen.

The second one can be a bit confusing, since it seems to be written in past tense, but this is a common way that we express hypotheticals or possibilities, as in "If you helped me with my upcoming project, I would be grateful."

Notice that it is not correct to say "If X would happen" in either case. We only use "would" for the result portion, and only in form #2, so C is out.

Hello anish777,

We hope this finds you well.

To answer your query, "would" is not used to express conditions; it is used to express hypotheticals; in other words, in a sentence that refers to a conditional action (most commonly expressed through the word "if") and its outcome, "would" is used to refer to the result of the condition, not the condition itself.

We hope this helps.
All the best!
