Hello everyone!
In the past few weeks I've been doing a lot of soul searching/contemplation of my future long-term goals and have decided to fully commit myself to going back for my MBA and therefore taking the GMAT. I discovered this site and have been trolling heavily for about a week now, it's already proven an invaluable resource and I'm happy to have found a such a competent community to rely upon!
As I put my ultimate study strategy together I wanted to ask for some advice. Some background info:
-Pretty much unlimited amount of time to prepare, but I've been generally thinking that I'd like to take the test in January or February (starting my studies now).
-Currently have a full time job, at which I probably spend ~3 hours/day doing real work, so I definitely have plenty of daily capacity. I'll be rotating in January though so things could potentially get a little hectic in the start of 2012.
-Haven't narrowed down my potential schools list, but I'd like to get as high a score as possible to see what my options are. My ugrad performance wasn't the best (3.2 gpa) so I feel huge pressure to perform on the other areas of admission.
-Took the
OG 11 diagnostic and scored as follows:
RC "Excellent" (16/17)
CR "Excellent" (15/17)
SC "Above Average" (14/17)
PS "Average" (13/24)
DS "Average" (13/24)
-Books:
OG 11
OG 12
MGMAT 1-8
Specific questions:
-Do you guys set daily time goals or more chapter/specific chunks of material?
-It looks like a lot of the sample schedules around here involve taking tests on the weekends. Is it recommended to take 1 test every weekend starting week 1 going all the way through or does it make more sense to start doing the tests after some review of the basics, etc?
-Is there anything I should be doing everyday? I've seen a lot of suggestions to do SC everyday since its more of an exposure thing. Should I do those even during my quant review?
As it stands I plan to spend ~2 months on quant (my weakness) and ~1.5 months on verbal, then another month or so on testing strategies & review.
Thanks for the help, I welcome all advice, comments and suggestions! I'll post my completed strategy when I've finalized the deets.
