Hi folks,
Generally speaking Schools are not too keen on extending their deadlines nor giving quicker decisions. However, if you ask politely - and I suggest emailing to ask for a time for a 5 minute phone call- as it is easier to talk to someone about this. It is too easy for adcom to say no in an email- harder to do so if you can get them on the phone. But in any case, the school's response will give you a good indication about whether they want you or not. If they don't care too much they are not likely to budge as it is a numbers game and they will generally hold to the rules so as not to invite an avalanche of these kinds of requests. And it would help more if your offer was from a similar caliber school so going to Kellogg to say hey Kelley wants me- can you tell me earlier? Is not really a compelling ask for the Kellogg side as they won't see Kelley as a peer school. Saying that Stanford has offered you admission but that you want to hear from Kellogg first- now that might be more attention! In any case, be polite when asking for anything and don't expect much... but it can't hurt to ask as long as you are polite....
I recently received an offer from Kelley, and their decision deadline is 2/17.
Kellogg (I interviewed Friday) will get back to me within 2-4 weeks.
UNC interview is tomorrow, and will take ~1 week for a decision.
UVA decision is by 2/28.
Kelley admissions office has stated that they can work with an extension (probably like 2 weeks), but it still doesn't give me much time with some of the schools listed. Has anyone had success in asking other schools for a quicker decision in lieu of a pending offer/deadline?
