She traveled 50 km in the first 2/3 of an hour. If her increased speed was v km/hr, she traveled v/4 km from 12:40 to 12:55 and 39v/60 km from 12:55 to 1:34

Thus 50 + v/4 = 13v/20
50 =2v/5
V=125

At noon, Noor set out for home at a speed of 75 km/hour . Forty minutes later, she increased her speed and maintained this new speed until she arrived home. At 12:55 PM, Noor phoned to announce that she was halfway home. If she arrived at 1:34 PM, what was her increased speed in kilometers per hour?

(A) 90
(B) 110
(C) 120
(D) 125
(E) 150

If Noor was halfway home at 12:55 PM and arrived home at 1:34 PM, what was her increased speed in kilometers per hour?

Let the increased speed be v kmph and the time to reach tome was t hours.

For first 40 minutes (2/3) hours: -
Speed = 75 kmph
Time = 2/3 hours
Distance travelled = 75*2/3 = 50 km

From 1240 hrs to 1334 hours
Time = 54 minutes = 54/60 = .9 hours
Speed = v kmph
Distance travelled = .9v km

Total distance = .9v + 50 km
Half the distance = .45v + 25 km

From 1240 hrs to 1255 hours
Time = 15 minutes = 1/4 hours
Speed = v kmph
Distance travelled = v/4 km

v/4 + 50 = .45v + 25
.2v = 25
v = 25/.2 = 125 kmph
