Salary grade of 5 is \(p(5)=9.50+0.25(5–1)=9.50+0.25*4\);

Salary grade of 1 is \(p(1)=9.50 + 0.25(1–1)=9.50\);

\(p(5)-p(1)=9.50+0.25*4-9.50=1\).

p = 9.50 + 0.25(s – 1).
Hourly wage (p) if S=1 --> 9.50 + 0.25(1 – 1) = 9.5
Hourly wage (p) if S=5 --> 9.50 + 0.25(5 – 1) = 9.5 + 0.25 x 4 = 9.5 + 1.00

So the answer has to be B. Kindly confirm the OA because OA can not be C.

\(p_5 = 9.50 + 0.25(5 – 1) => 10.50\\
p_1 = 9.50 + 0.25(1 – 1) => 9.50\)

So, \(p_5 - p_1 = 1\)

Hence, aswer will definitely be (B) $ 1.00

We are given that each employee receives an hourly wage p, in dollars, determined by the formula p = 9.50 + 0.25(s – 1), in which s = the salary grade. We need to determine how many more dollars per hour an employee with a salary grade of 5 receives than does an employee with a salary grade of 1. Thus:

9.50 + 0.25(5 – 1) - [9.50 + 0.25(1 – 1)]

9.50 + 0.25(4) - [9.50 + 0.25(0)]

9.50 + 0.25(4) - 9.50

0.25 x 4 = $1.00

How many more dollars = ? for grade 5 than grade 1 ?
Just substitute in equation
S = Grade 1 to Grade 5
P = 9.50$ + 0.25$(S-1)
P = 9.50$ + 0.25(5-1) = 10.50$
P = 9.50$ + 0.25(1-1) = 9.50$
Difference 1$

This is fairly easy and straight forward question. To save time rather than plugging in 5 and 1 respectively and then taking a difference juts take the difference first so that the constant cancels out leaving you with option B or $1.00 as the correct answer.

Hi AAPL,

We're told that at a certain company, each employee has a salary grade S that is at least 1 and at most 5. Each employee receives an hourly wage P, in dollars, determined by the formula P = 9.50 + 0.25(S - 1). We're asked how many more dollars an hour an employee with a salary grade of 5 receives than an employee with a salary grade of 1 does. Certain questions simply require that you 'plug in' the given information and work through a bit of Arithmetic - and that's all that this really is.

To start, you might recognize that the "9.50" is irrelevant, since we're asking for the DIFFERENCE in hourly pay - meaning that we just have to focus on the last part of the calculation (re: the "0.25(S - 1)").

Level 1: (0.25)(1 - 1) = 0.... or a total hourly pay of $9.50
Level 5: (0.25)(5 - 1) = 1.00... or a total hourly pay of $10.50

The difference is $1.00 per hour.

Final Answer:

A. $0.50
B. $1.00
C. $1.25
D. $1.50
E. $1.75

Explanation-
p = 9.50 + 0.25(s – 1)

For s=1
p = 9.50 + 0.25(0) => 9.50

For s=5
p = 9.50 + 0.25(4) => 9.50 + 1 => 10.50

Difference in wages between highest and lowest salary grade,
=10.50 - 9.50
= $1
