7x:8x:10x and the total is 25x

25x = 300
5 * 5 x= 100 * 3

x = 12

we can do it also by backsolving

If we let chickens be 120 then

120 = 10x

x = 12

The total ratio is 25 so 25 * 12 = 300

Chickens = 10x = 10 * 12 = 120

$$\frac{300}{(7+8+10)}*10 = 120$$ ; Answer must be (C) 120

We can create the equation:

7x + 8x + 10x = 300

25x = 300

x = 12

So there are 10 x 12 = 120 chickens.
