At a certain sales agency, each salesperson receives a monthly base salary of $2000, plus commission equal to 10% of her sales over $2500 for that month. How much did Allison earn in June?

(1) The amount that Allison earned in June was equal to 20% of her total sales for June.

(2) Had Allison sold $17500 more than she did in June, her total earnings would have equaled 15% of her sales.

Monthly Salary, J = 2000 + 0.1(S - 2500)
J = ?

1) 2000 + 0.1(S - 2500) = 0.2S
=> 1750 = 0.1S
=> S = 17,500
We can find the earnings in June. Sufficient.

2) 2000 + 0.1(S - 2500 + 17500) = 0.15(S + 17500)
=> S = \(\frac{875}{0.05}\)
=> S = 17,500
We can find the earnings in June. Sufficient.

D is the answer.
