Why is statement 2 insufficient ? If there is no information about smokers can't we simply assume that ONLY grillers were sold ? Even if we consider cases in which the ratio of griller:smoker was 3:4 the new ratio always comes out to be 1:2. Here is how

CASE 1 Grill:Smoke = 30:40. After the sales of 1/3 grillers the new ratio is 20:40= 1:2

CASE 2 Grill:Smoke = 60:80. After the sales of 1/3 grillers the new ratio is 40:80 = 1:2

CASE 3 Grill:Smoke = 90:120. Again the new ratio is 1:2.

So what is the problem ?

Statement 2 gives you info about how many grillers were sold. It doesn't tell you that no smokers were sold. So you cannot assume that.

If there were 3 grillers and 4 smokers and 1 griller and 2 smokers were sold, you would be left with a ratio of 1:1.
Stmnt 2 alone is not sufficient.
