Guys, I have been visiting this forum on daily basis, and let me just say, this is an outstanding place full of amazingly good and useful information.
I seem to find myself at the crossroads where I need to make a decision. But first, let me quickly explain what the deal is:
I took the GMAT two years ago, with no prep and scored 560 (Q35, V35). At this point today, i have been preparing for a month, pretty intensively at that. Before i began my study process, i took GMAT PREP 1 and scored 640 (Q 36, V 41). After realizing how bad my math was, i dedicated my time to it completely. I took Kaplan CAT and scored 650 (Q35, V 43). I also took
MGMAT CATS and scored a better score each time, last one being 670 (Q45, V36). What bothers me about
MGMAT is that I can't beat their Verbal section since it seems that one question has at least two, if not more, possible answers. I do pretty good inVerbal in any other CAT... Tomorrow, I will take GMAT PREP 2 to get a better feel of where I am at.
My question is following: I am aiming to hit the 700 barrier, and I realize my Q is bad. At the same time, I noticed that 90% of my Verbal mistakes come from SC. I got the Aristotle SC Grail and
MGMAT SC. Although i need to work on Q in the next month or so, would you recommend I dedicate some time to polishing my SC, so the verbal score can go up to some 45-47? I am looking to apply to finance and economics PhD programs, and I realize they ask for a high Q, but i just feel i can raise my score more efficiently by polishing Verbal than learning some new concepts of math. I identified my Q weak areas, and i bought
MGMAT Number Properties, Word Translations, and VICs one, together with OG 12 and OGQ books...
Any advice of what is better, completely commit to Q, or commit t Q, but polish the SC?
As always, your advice is much appreciated.
