Hello everyone,
So starting off, I need to achieve a score of 550. I know this is actually not a "hard" score to achieve. But I have not seen any useful advice on achieving just an average score like that and I really need some help right now.
I have been studying for the GMAT for almost two months now. First I started with the Manhattan Prep "Foundations of Math" and reviewed the whole book to touch up on my math skills. After that I started with the basic Magoosh program and finished all verbal questions and every easy to medium quant questions and watched about every video in every topic.
I already took my first GMAT one week ago and I was shocked about my result. I only got a score of 400. I was really sad and embarassed after all that hard work and time I put into studying for the test. But nevertheless, I really want to try for a second time, since the application deadline for the university I want to apply to is coming up.
So I roughly only have 4 days left before I want to take my second try.
The last week I spend my days reviewing only the basic and medium questions of magoosh and some GMAT OG questions.
Of course I know my biggest weakness is quant. So I thought it would make more sense if I focus my last days on the easy and medium questions and really understanding the basics and topics.
I just really need some help in order to achieve my score of 550. What else could I do in such a short amount of time? Every tip or help is appreciated here
I know it is almost impossible to improve but I would appreciate any tips or advice. At this point I really have no options left and I need to pass.

I'm sorry to hear that your first attempt did not turn out better. Many GMATers spend 3 months (or more) of consistent study time before they hit their 'peak' scores, so it's likely that you just have not put in enough time and effort to score higher yet. Unfortunately, the goal to raise your Score 150 points in just 4 days is not realistic; you should not lose sight of your REAL Goal though: to get into this particular Program. You might not be able to apply for an immediate application deadline, but with a couple of months of consistent, guided study, you should be able to earn the type of Score that you need so that you can apply later on.
There's no harm in retaking the GMAT in 4 days - and if you are looking for one piece of actionable advice to earn a 550, then it's worth noting that you do NOT need to correctly answer any questions that you think are too hard or too weird to earn that type of Score (so the best move you can make when facing those types of questions is to quickly guess and move on - that way, you will have more time to spend on all of the other 'gettable' questions).
Before I can offer you any additional advice for your studies, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:
Studies:
1) How many hours do you typically study each week?
2) On what dates (or approximate dates) did you take EACH of your practice CATs/mocks and how did you score on EACH (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores for EACH)?
Goals:
3) Is a 550 the 'minimum requirement' for the Program that you are interested in? Would that Score guarantee you entry to that Program (and how do you know that for sure?)?
4) What is the next application deadline after this upcoming deadline?

Hello, eelovee. I must say that I agree with Rich. You may want those 150 points in a couple days, but it is highly unlikely that anything you would suddenly pick up would lead to that sort of leap in score. There is a lot of volatility at the lower end of the score spectrum, so a 50-point swing could come about with just a little more luck on the day, but by your own admission, this is where you stand after almost two months of preparation. Evidently, this time was not spent in a way that led to demonstrable gains in understanding the task at hand. In general, I advise people to relax the week of the exam, to do things that help to get their mind off the test. Last-minute cramming rarely leads to anything substantial, and the added stress will not help. A little light review can pay off, and practicing a few questions here or there can help alleviate pressure, but not if you are approaching the questions in the same way and making the same mistakes you have been, particularly if you are stuck in this I need mindset.
See if you can relax. If you choose to take the exam in a few days, give it your best shot, and focus on the question on the screen, let come what may.
