Hi All,
I completed my GMAT examination yesterday and was shocked to see a score of 640 (Q47, V31). This inspite of the fact that i had been scoring in the range of 690 to 730 in each and every mock that i had given in the past 3 to 4 months before the exam. Moving on from here, I dont plan to retake the GMAT as I have already invested ample amount of time and effort on the first one itself (including quitting a steady job, to study).
I have 4 years of work experience in one of the top 3 IT companies in India, as a Senior Software engineer. An Academic GPA of 3.5. I am looking at doing my MBA from Canada (Toronto to be specific) and had shortlisted a few universities (namely, York , Rotman, McMaster, Ted Rogers). Now however, with a 640 in hand I am only looking at Ryerson University and would like to know if I stand a good chance to get into Ryerson University. My goal is to specialize in Marketing management and be able to contribute to the FMCG sector in Canada as I have always been inclined to this sector for many reasons.
Although disappointed with a score of 640, I do not intend to get bogged down by it and am trying to do whatever i can with this score and take it forward from here. Please let me know what are the possibilities.

Cheerz !

Universities other than Ryerson are pretty difficult with that score. But if you have an exceptionally impressive profile, then of course you might get into those universities as well. You have not mentioned about your work experience and extracurricular. They too play an important role. Take up roles and jobs that build up your leadership ability. Extracurricular should also more or less focus on that. Then perfectly drafted application essay is another important thing. Ryerson might not have that much of a brand name but the learning here is really amazing. Focus on interview skills. Try to get in contact with an alumni of the respective university and arrange for a mock interview.
Good Luck!
