Based on your experience, do schools take the average of your GMAT scores if you took the test more than once? This will be my third time taking the test and I am just curious. Thank you!

Most school state it explicitly on their website admissions section or in the FAQ. From what I have read, the vast majority take your highest score. Whether or not they take the other scores into "consideration" may be a whole different story. If somebody score 460 four times then a 690, I cant imagine those four 460s wouldnt linger in the adcom minds.

Most schools openly admit to taking only the highest score. This works out best for both students and schools since schools report these scores for rankings etc.

Yep. UCLA clearly states that they average if taken 3x or more

I just found something that might be helpful for you. This Q&A is from the UCLA website:

Q: If I take the GMAT more than once, will the Admissions Committee average the scores or take the highest one?
A: We will see all of your scores but will take your higher score if you take the test twice. If you take the GMAT more than twice, we consider all scores, but don’t average them.

Based on all of your comments and school websites, I think most schools look at all your scores during the last 5 years but don't necessarily "average" them. I guess it is ok if your scores have improved over time. Is it safe to assume this? Please post a reply if you have seen other schools who take the "average" if taken more than once.

Hmmm, sorry for the misinformation. I was close, but no cigar. However, I think an avg would be better than "consider all scores."
