Hello,
Been a long time reader on this forum, but finally decided to join. I am currently 27 years old white male. Below is a quick summary on my profile:
Undergraduate: Local Pittsburgh private university
Undergraduate majors/GPA: Accounting & Finance, 3.21 GPA, & decent activities while in school including leadership & Omicron Delta Kappa honor society.
Professional: 2.5 years in regional public accounting (non-Big 4) where I earned my CPA. I then went to work at McKinsey (networked to get the position). I have been an analyst for about two years. I have received interest for either a government job in Washington DC or a corporate strategy/M&A job with a large defense company in Washington DC (I worked on a number of projects with defense companies at McKinsey). I dont think I want to go right into a MBA from McKinsey, I want some corporate experience in strategy/M&A.
I will have good letters of recommendation. I would imagine one will be from a superior here at McKinsey & another will be from my next job. My community involvement has been decent, especially given my travel schedule. I am on the Young Alumni Council at my alma mater & on the Young Board of Directors at one of my former audit clients. I also work on random projects/events with friends. I would also spend time on my essays talking about how I've rebounded since an average undergrad performance and also how I have coped with being diagnosed with a chronic auto-immune illness and what I have done since then.
I can only estimate my GMAT since I haven't taken it yet, but I'd look for a score in 720-750, hopefully closer to 750.
Would anyone have any idea what MBA school range would be a good fit for me? I love the top 5 MBA schools (like everyone else). I visited Harvard & Yale for a class trip back in high school and both campuses were awesome. Would I have a chance at any of Harvard, Wharton, or Booth? Or should I be looking more #5-15 schools?
Thanks
