Does the AWA score have an impact on your application? I heard that for some schools like Yale they care but for schools like HBS and Stanford it doesn't play much of a role at all. Thanks in advance for any advice. Ironically, I scored well on my Verbal section but got a 4 on my AWA.

The use of the AWA score varies by the school. However, as mentioned in the Conceptual Overview of Adaptive Tests sticky note, the AWA appears have about the same or more predictive power compared to some other commonly used admissions criteria. In addition, some schools will compare the AWA essays with the app. essays to see if they were prepared by the same person. In addition, if the school has some doubts about one's ability to communicate in English, the AWA essays can provide them with further information.
