Back ground check questions??

Question

If I have owned my own business for 5 years are the university going to ask me to turn over tax forms to prove the income I have stated in my MBA application??

I would seriously doubt it. I don't think they are going to ask anyone to do that unless, perhaps, you're claiming some fantastic level of income.

monad, I actually think that there's a possibility that schools may ask for that information. But my guess is that even if they ask, it'll just be this year's or the last. Remember, schools will not verify any information that you DON'T put on the application (excluding credit information and charges) and since you've probably only put your most recent salary on there, you should only need to worry about the very current salaries. Keep in mind that this is IF they care, and understand that they can ask for it if they truly want to verify. I second piggles opinion, too, that unless you put down some outrageous salary (like $250,000/year), what would prompt them to check?

I have my own small business on the side that I wrote substantially about in many of my essays, but none of the schools asked for any tax forms.

Ultimately make sure everything matches up though, in the online app, on your resume and the details in your essays. Any discrepancies will raise flags.
