Hello Everyone,
This is my first post in the GMAT Club community so first things first, here's a sincere thank you to the founders & employees of GMAT Club and all the contributors as well. Gleaning through this forum and soaking in all the expert advice is an exercise I've quite enjoyed and learned from over the past 4 weeks.
As mentioned in the heading, i'm back to solving quant again as i've realized that my career needs a boost via an MBA degree; which could come about once i get a respectable GMAT score (My target being a 720+ based on my work experience and the schools i'd like to apply to) -
I kick-started my prep with quant about a month ago as that's clearly a weaker area for me vis-a-vis verbal (i think) and i haven't had any taste of quant for the last 8 years except for a few scenarios at work where an understanding of percents and fractions comes in handy.
So i spent about 3 weeks refreshing my quant foundations & concepts and going diligently through each chapter and problem sets across all MGMAT quant guides. Once done, i took my first couple of tests from the MGMAT CATs this week (un-timed) and scored a Q43 and Q44 resp.
My concern is that i could only complete about 20-22 questions in 75 mins each time and overall took about 2 hours to finish each test (Can clearly see that i'm lacking focus and stamina at present). I'm hoping that i'll get faster with practice and i intend to solve the remaining 4 MGMAT quant CATs this week and then move on to the GMAT Club CATs that i purchased a short while ago. I've been maintaining an error log based on so many recommendations here so i'll keep a track of my weak areas and work on those along the way.
I'd ideally like to move on to verbal once i hit Q47+ and when i manage to finish my tests on time.
So my questions are -
1) As of now, i've planned to solve CATs from GMATClub and MGMAT (and will take the 2 GMAC CATs in my last month of preparation; which is another month away). Is that going to be okay based on my target (Q49+)?
2) I'm a little concerned that it's taking me this long to solve some of these questions - i guess i need some reassurance or a point of view on whether you'll think i'll be able to speed up as required based on my plan for the upcoming CATs...you think i'll be able to crank up my speed in the next 2 months based on the above plan? Any other advice would be great to have

Hi Nandan,
First off, do NOT take any more CATs or ClubTests - based on what you've described about your studies so far, you'll just end up 'wasting' them. Test Day is a rather specific 'event', which you CAN train for, but the work you've done so far is not the best way to go about it. Right now, your primary focus should be on building up your content and Tactical knowledge - later on, you'll take CATs at regular intervals (1 FULL CAT, with the Essay and IR sections, every 1-2 weeks). At this point, since you have NOT taken a FULL CAT under realistic conditions, those Quant Scaled scores are likely unrealistic and 'inflated' - and they won't become any more realistic if you continue to take CATs in the same way.

Thanks for your response Rich and i hear you- i understand that the scores might be unrealistic if i don't simulate the test environment well enough (primarily from a time perspective i.e.). I actually stopped taking tests this week onwards and have been focusing on solving a number of practice questions and quizzes on my weak areas. and i can see my speed's getting better with each passing day so i'm happy with that 
I am an electronics engineer and have 7.5 yrs work-ex in digital marketing. Want to apply to schools in Europe (LBS, Insead are a couple that i fancy). I have time until Nov/December 2016 to apply but have to take my test by August 2016 first week due to other commitments that'll keep me busy post that period.
