In the letter of acceptance, my school mentioned that they will have a background check by Kroll America (satisfactory completion of application verification by Kroll Background America including the payment of any fees associated with applicant verification.) It means they will make me pay for the verification? Don't know how it's gonna cost! And I don't feel comfortable at all even though I have nothing to hide, because in my country's culture, you are checked only if you "have problems". Anybody have any ideas?

Again, they are looking for two things:

1) Gross and clear deception or other obvious breaches of ethics
2) Issues that could put the school staff, faculty or students at risk

* You say you went to Harvard but Harvard says you didn't.
* Your transcript is full of A's but the official one is full of C's
* Your social security number is on a death or invalid list (you lied about who you are)
* The time you said you were working for McKinsey you were actually at Riker's Island after appearing on "To Catch a Predator".

Shoot, better fess about McKinsey.

I have a quesiton for this "old" thread.

What do you guys think a school would think about a "criminal damage" offense? Namely tresspassing on a property and damaging some flowers. Would this have to be disclosed in an application?

one more question... do people submit the background check BEFORE submitting the deposit and intent to register?

I was planning on submitting my background check after matriculating... if anyone knows something bad about doing it that way, let us all know.

I also have a question regarding background verification. When they reach out to my old company for my employment dates, does it matter that there is about 2 weeks' differences? The date that our company HR provided is the day that I signed the contract, while truth is I started work earlier than that date, as there was gonna be an urgent case, I started earlier than on-board date to work with my former co-workers to go through the on-job training process. In the application form, I also put my actual start date.
