Backing out of an already scheduled interview? [#permalink]

I had a face-to-face interview scheduled for next Wednesday in my home city. Yesterday, my VP was critically injured in an accident and now I am taking over some of his projects, one of them being a conference next Wednesday in Denver (I fly out early morning and stay for 4 days).

I had to cancel the interview after fully explaining the situation. Admissions at the school said that they would most likely proceed now with a phone interview but they first need to check with the dean.

Can they hold this against me? I think they understand the magnitude of the situation here but I am still a bit paranoid that backing out of the scheduled interview will hurt me.

Thoughts?

as long as you explained your case I am sure it is fine. However as with any excuse, they can choose to believe it or not. But I would have to say it would be fine.

I can't see any decent human being holding that against you.

Stop worrying.

Your reason is legit. I can't see a school holding something like that against you.
