Hi, I wanted to share my very bad experience at New Horizons center in Dubai.
The AC was not working in peak summer in Dubai (it is 49 celsius in this area). So it was very very hot. The center provided fans and coolers which made a lot of noise. Also, there were computer servers placed in the room which were causing more heat and noise!
I felt center is not conducive to give GMAT exams and it effected my concentration and and definitely my score too! I didnt feel this this was not a Standardized exam and I dont understand how Pearson is allowing such centers to operate like this.
I went in again today after a month, and raised this issue again after signing in but before I started the exam. When they told me that the "AC was not fixed yet" but they'd give me ear plugs and there will be fans and a cooler. I raised an issue and refused to give the exam in these conditions. They refused to give me a written note that the AC was not working (no surprise there) but it was initially agreed by the proctor who was signing me in that she'll give the written document. The tone and agreement changed when her manager got involved. Unfortunately, due to UAE laws, I am not allowed to A/V record any of this as it could lead to legal issues for me.
Has anyone else faced such issues where the test center is not honoring the responsibility of giving the Test take a standard control environment, and the test taker has walked out basically getting marked as a no show (I did sign in, and did the palm vein registration, etc). What is the best recourse?
I am already in contact with GMAC on this.
I plan to take the GMAT again in another center soon but I am stuck with a 16 day wait period. Any suggestions going forward will be appreciated.
Absolutely terrible experience. Possibly illegal conduct engaged in by the test center and associated parties.
No testtaker should have to endure this sort of conduct. $250 plus associated costs is a tremendous sum of money for many, many testtakers in the world. It is more than the monthly/yearly salary in some places!
Do GMAC and Pearson/VUE have any responsibility towards the testtakers?
Are private entities now holding testtakers hostage?
Can someone please get official responses from GMAC and Pearson/VUE?
