congrats on breaking 700... regarding your retake question, my gut instinct would be that you shouldnt retake, although without knowing your specific profile and what schools you intend to apply to, it would be hard to say. read through this thread if you havent already (should-i-retake-gmat-thread-retaking-gmat-strategies-83339.html).

you mentioned the LSAT questions were not representative of the gmat, and also that you didn't get a chance to look at the powerscore CR. which LSAT books / resources did you use? if you used the LSAT logical reasoning bible, then you didnt miss anything by skipping the powerscore CR, as i've been told they are very similar (with the LSAT LR book having extra sections).

also, i hope you don't mind i edited the subject of your post 8-)

I did a lot of questions on the forums which were stated as LSAT questions. Noticed you got a 770! Did you retake or was it first try?

congrats!

re: gmat retakes
i'm researching on some pre-selected schools to see whether they provide any hints on their views on re-takes...

generally most schs ask for only the highest score... (phew) but there are some schs that require you to list ALL your gmat attempts... therefore i will probably give such schs a miss...

What schools have you found would that only count the highest. I know Columbia does but my other choices are NYU, Yale and Wharton. Any word on them?

Hi sher676,

it was my first gmat try, not a retake. the LSAT LR bible has many in depth strategies that, while more difficult than the GMAT CR bible, also give you a better insight.

i believe most schools only consider the highest gmat score. on the apps, there is a spot where you write in what you got on the GMAT; afterward, they only use the official score report to verify what you filled in. you should try looking on the school specific threads in the business school application subforum for more info about the specific schools you listed. sher676, congrats on reaching 700!! Good luck on the rest of your app.

One thing I find weird is that we have the same scores by section. I too scored Q48 and V37 but my total was 690. I took it today BTW.

Hey sesseoppa,

That is weird and I have seen that before with other scores. I guess luck also plays a part. But I'm guessing 690 and 700 are not too different. Are you happy with your score though?

I'm disappointed... I was hoping to get over 700 since my GPA is a lowly 3.2 and I need to get as much scholarships as possible. Yeah 690 and 700 is not that different but the psychological barrier is still there lol.

Columbia, Stern, Yale and a fourth probably. Nervous that my score may be low but will give it a shot.

Even i scored 700, 49 Quant, 38 Verbal

My Prep scores are almost similar to those of sher676.

And like sher676, even i m contemplating on a retake. How important a factor is GMAT for scholarships? Are you guys aware of it?

Congrats Zizous5. Seems like you should have gotten 710 since both your score are higher than mine. GMAT is really weird! I am not applying for any scholarships but am targetting top 10 bschools so havent decided. Let me know what you find out.

Congratulations,
You at least made 700. All my dream schools, I think, require above 700, and my test is in two days.
And I am not feeling that I am in that bracket yet, though, I studied almost for two months by purchasing all Manhattan GMAT books... :)
