logical approach: any team plays with rest 12 teams. so each plays 12 games but in that 12 games 1 game of each of 12 teams game is included. so the next team (2nd team) plays 11 games. The next team (3rd team) plays 10 games and so on. Add up all.

= 2 (12+11+10+ ..............+ 1)
= 2 x 78
= 156 games.

its simple 13C2 ways to play 1 game at home, so basically you have 2*13C2 or 156 games

I agree with 156.
Each team plays with 12 remaining teams. For example team A play with team B ( of 12 teams) and when we count to team B, team B again plays with team A( of 12 teams remain), so team A and B play twice times with each other.
Then there is : 13(team)*12(team remains)=156

if team A and B are playing against one another... wouldnt that be considered as one game.

then how can we 156 games???
