How can weather be present sometimes and sometime not. IMO, weather is always present.

Darn good point. I stand corrected. The omited portion does distort the meaning. I will edit my bolface post so as not to confuse other members.

was the author trying to say that baseball was as present as weather?

something like: weather was always present and so was baseball..

we are talking about this after a long time..so can we say weather was?
