Modifier "Besides adding complementary flavors to many foods" should be followed by now Noun it modifies. Hence eliminate 4 and 5.
2 -->"hot sauces stimulate the release of endorphins in the brain, like exercise" conveys meaning that hot sauces stimulates endorphins and exercise alike. eliminate it.
3 --> conveys meaning that hot sauces and exercise both add flavor. Eliminate it.
