Hi abhijeetsingh,
Thanks for sharing your profile with us!
You're right that this is indeed a bit of a dilemma. Given your work experience and career goal, a more focused master's degree in either analytics or perhaps finance would be a better fit from a content perspective, but the problem is that most such programs are designed for professionals who are earlier in their careers than you are (i.e. either straight out of undergrad or at most 2-3 years out). Candidly, you are also already on the older end of the scale for full-time MBA programs as well.
What I would recommend in your case is either a full-time MBA at a school that has a good reputation for finance and/or data analytics, or a part-time or executive MBA, if the latter is an option for you (depends on your career flexibility and immigration status if you want to go abroad for your degree). Executive MBAs are more geared towards candidates like yourself who have more years of experience, and they tend to be more open to applicants who have already specialized to a large degree in their careers, as you have. Executive MBA programs are also a better fit for your stated reasons for wanting to go back to school now (i.e. better opportunities and networking) -- full-time MBA programs are oriented towards younger applicants who are usually still generalists and are looking to either switch fields altogether or get a credibility boost within their existing fields. A full-time MBA program could still be a possibility, but you may need to consider applying to a wider swath of schools than just the top-ranked programs, where your age / tenure and career specialization may raise some questions with the AdComs.
I hope that helps! Feel free to reach out to us at
