Hi folks!
Automotive Engineering under-graduate and a car enthusiast here.
I completed my Bachelors studies in Automotive Engineering last year, and I'm currently a Graduate Trainee Engineer at leading Tier-1 automotive supplier firm.
I've decided to go for an MBA in the 2020 intake, so I've been researching on MBA programs best suited for a future career in the Auto/Motorsport industry.
I've got a good set of auto-related extracurricular stuff I've done in college (a team project building an ATV for a student competition, with some solid results). I would also be associating myself with an NGO which works for Road Safety soon. Some international exposure too as I spent a year of primary school abroad, which was back in 2006.
Combining that with 3 years worth of industrial experience, first question is will it be enough for a top-ranked MBA program? (Given that I would have a relatively lesser amount of work experience in no. of years)
Now, I could either try for a typical 2-year program in the USA, or a shorter program in Europe (I come from India, btw). European programs from my understanding provide better value for money, and have greater diversity, but on the other hand have a higher average pre-MBA work experience. US programs are obviously much more expensive, but I believe the chances for getting into a good program could be better?
The auto industry is pretty big both in America and Europe, but my gut says I should study and later work in Europe. I've also studied a bit of German in college, so do you think an MBA in Germany would be the ideal route? I think going for a European program would be beneficial only if I'm well versed with the language of the country where I'm studying (French for INSEAD, HEC Paris, Italian for SDA Bocconi, German for Mannheim etc).
I'm appearing for the GMAT in January next year and then depending on the score a 2nd attempt in April/May, so I can start applying in the Round 1 intake in the latter half 2019.
So what do you guys think? It would be great to have some the expert thoughts!
Thanks in advance,
Garvit
