I know Vanderbilt places people into PhD programs regularly. Purdue would probably do the same. BC and WUSTL strike me as more applied MSF programs so I tend to think that they don't do as well in the PhD sphere (not saying this is true, just saying what my feeling is).

For some reason no one is recommending vanderbilt where I'm in =/ I'm guessing the location isn't safe since my proffessor says it's hard to live there but I'm not sure where the hardness comes from. I'm leaning toward vanderbilt myself even though I'd probably like Boston life better. But in the end of course I'll choose the best program to help my future phd admission and the least quantitative one ofcourse

Yea I'm leaning toward it too but I meant people in my country aren't big fans. Any clue how much is the avg living cost there ? I should have about 6000$ monthly but I'm not sure expensive is the rent and everything else is .

I would say the area around Vander is definitely lower than most areas in US.
