So i've exhausted my
MGMAT, Kaplan and Knewton course.
I know how to do basics of quant. I can always get 41-42 on it. Problem is I need to raise this to 45-47.
I have troubles with the more difficult question types of basically all of quant. More specifically on rates/work, circles/cyclinders, 3 way overlapping sets, questions dealing with remainders and primes.
Should I just do a lot of practice questions from gmatclub? I lose a lot of confidence doing GMATCLUB questions because I never seem to get any right except for the super easy ones. The books just repeat the same basic methods which I already know pretty well.
Any tips are appreciated guys
Hi!
This is a common issue that a lot of students have when studying for the GMAT. But you are in a better place than most because you know where your weaknesses are. That means you can take steps to strengthen your skills and turn a weakness into an asset. Here a couple of suggestions:
1. Go back over all the questions you missed and take notes on all the problems—the wording that confused you, the concept you didn't remember, the miscalculation, or faulty assumption. Take the time to really dissect the problems you missed so that you understand them completely. This will be helpful since you will have a record of things that caused you trouble that you can use as you continue to study. Also, make a "cheat sheet" based on all the notes you take. Try to make it one page and use it as a reference for when you are working through problems. Your goal should be to increase your accuracy by any means, and then focus on pacing and timing.
2. This is a simple tip, often overlooked, but you seem to already know this one. The more practice problems you do, the higher score will be. Simple as that. I am not sure if you should only do questions that you find on GMAT Club. You probably should expand your practice into official materials. This will provide you with the best prep possible because you will be working with questions written by the test makers.
I hope that you find this helpful. Let me know if something doesn't work for you.
