Hi!
All GMAT aspirants must be aware that there are 3 main official sources for GMAT prep: The OG, OG for verbal review and OG for quant review. From what I have read elsewhere one must finish the OG before doing anything else. I have done this myself.
My question is should the verbal and quant review be left for the last few weeks of prep? Also should the GMATPREP question pack 1 be left for the last too?
Kindly give your feedback and also mention how many weeks before the exam should one start working on these 3 official practice sources.
Thanks!!
Dear
dp26389,
I'm happy to respond.

The answer to your question depends on many factors, the most significant of which is --- what is the total time the student is spending on studying for the GMAT? If someone plans to study for the GMAT in only a month, then I think I would say: just get through the OG. If someone is spending 3-6 months, then they could do more.
I guess I would say --- think of the OG & OVR & OQR as a giant set of questions, however many questions total those three books contain. I think a student should divide that total number of questions evenly by the number of days she or he plans to study, and work through that giant question set at a uniform rate. Yes, I would recommend the OG first, and when that's done, I would recommend equal parts of the OVR and the OQR each day --- very important to have a dose of math and a dose of verbal each day.
I think questions from these books are good to do on weekdays, M-F, and weekend days are good for full length practice tests. If someone is studying, say, for six months, then I recommend getting a low quality test right at the beginning, just to have the endurance experience of sitting for a whole GMAT. Paper tests are fine for practice in the first half, say, the first three months. As one progresses, one wants to use high quality CATs --- the
MGMAT CATs are very good, and
Magoosh has a CAT as well. Finally, the GMAT Prep CATs should be on the last weekend test days leading up to the test itself.
Does all this answer your question?
