Hi,
I took the GMAT a month ago for the first time and got 680 (Q48V35, IR:7). I attempted it for the second time yesterday, and although the overall score is better (700) I tanked the quant section and IR (Q44V41, IR:4), making neither score particularly impressive. I was pretty surprised to to better in the verbal section as English is not my first language and I like to think that math is my strong side. Had a bad day, I guess. Do you think I should take the exam for the third time? Or should I rather roll with one of the two scores?

First off, both your 680 and 700 are fantastic scores (they're both a bit below the 90th percentile overall), so either could be enough to get you into your first-choice School. As such, a retest might not be necessary. Since many Schools place a premium on the Quant Scaled Score, you might be better off submitting the 680/Q48 with your applications. Depending on the Schools that you plan to apply to, you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile. There's a Forum full of them here:

Hi Rich,
Thanks a lot for your answer. I will be applying for MSc Finance courses at LSE and MIT and at a few second-tier schools for backup. I want to submit the applications by the end of the year or late January (should I decide to retake the exam). Also, thanks for the link with further info.
