Hi
Well I have taken my first official GMAT and it was one of the worst experiences of my life!
I need your advice:
Background- I have taken the 8 week
MGMAT class (all the labs, problem banks, and guide books) and studied hard core for 1 month and 2 weeks after the class. I have a BS in biology from a good school in the Northeast US and I work in software so I am not a dummy. My goal score is 680-700:
I have taken 4 MGMT practice tests my scores were:
Q17 V51 (yes you read that right)
Q37 V32 (
MGMAT was calibrating its new verbal score this week. arg...)
Q34 V36
Q42 V did not take on this exam
So I have trouble in math, but the
MGMAT did help me go up 25 points. I know the concepts very well at this point, but I can’t seem to apply them effectively and efficiently in that way that GMAT wants…
My GMAT day was terrible. The test center and it employees were a nightmare (one woman was on the phone making personal calls the entire time and I could hear her!) and I was a head case!
I got a Q22 v37 which is the 10th% and the 83%percentile.
I am dumbfounded because I got a 42 on q 4 days before the exam. Seeing that score pretty much caused me to go into shock.
I have several questions:
How should I approach the retake? I think I need to get back on the horse and do more practice exams. But take a few weeks off to wrap my brain around this nightmare.
Has anyone ever seen such varying results between someone's v and q score? How can I be good at the verbal and not at least normal on math?
Mental Health Tips! How do you deal with the dreaded day and the people working at the test center were pretty awful.
I felt so mentally fatigued from my study (I was doing 10 hour days the week before, I took vk from work and everything!) How do I study well and hard, but don't get burnt out?
Thx for your time
