It's bizarre, travelling through admissions411 I just came to see that 23 people from India applied to Columbia round 1, from those, 1 was admitted, 8 have unknown status (4 interviewed), and 14 were denied.
Any thoughts on this? Is it usual?
check out MIT and they too will've similar stats.. nothin' unusual about this demographic. It's been the point of discussion in amlost all chatboards and discussion forums. Lots of people apply from india and most of them've similar profiles ( Heck the 730+, 3.5+, 4 yrs + IT, some dancing, music extra's, NGO associations to teach poor children). What else can you expect the schools to do. They obviously cant have 100 indians in a class of 300

. One has to be really really competitive and go beyond the above mentioned profile to make an impact on the adcom of top 10. I have known 3 indians who've made it to HBS C2009 in R1 and they are truly deserving of such a worthy admit.
