Hi Guys,
I'm Italian and I'd like to work in London in the first years of my career (Consulting firms, IB or big companies) and I don't know which master to choose. I'm in the last year of my Bachelor's degree, excellent GPA, C2 English, two internships but not in big firms, planning to do GMAT in October. I think I'm not gonna have problems to get admitted to ESCP MIM or Bocconi MiM (taught in English), less probably to International management in Bocconi that is ridiculously competitive. I want a two-years master but my main concern is which of these two universities have better reputation/links and possibility of placement/internship in London? can someone tell me their experience or thoughts?
Thank you all

Hey
gianlucass,
From what you have mentioned here, your profile looks pretty decent.
As you are confused about which Masters program to target, As you are aiming to get into a consulting firm i would definitely suggest you to go for a MIM program. MIM will give you exposure to various fields and hence you would have a plethora of consulting opportunities post graduation.
Now coming to your profile itself, your GPA is a strong suit. Anywhere above 7.0 is considered a good score and would allow you to apply to most of your target schools.
As you are Italian and have a C2 in English, your ethnicity and Proficiency in 2nd language will help, as schools are always on the lookout for people from different nationalities to improve the diversity of the cohort.
Coming to your work experience, not being from a big brand name is not exactly a deal-breaker as you can craft a strong application by talking about the quality of your work experience, the type of project you undertook, how you went above and beyond your job role and positively impacted the company by being a part of it.
As for the GMAT, I would suggest you target a score of 690+ as it would really showcase your academic strength and would allow you to target a wide array of business schools.
You haven’t mentioned anything about the extracurricular hence I can’t comment much on it. But as general advice, it is important to talk about what leadership projects or positions you undertook, how you led the teams, and created a substantial impact.
If you haven’t had any extracurricular experience, I would suggest working on that. As you are still in the final year of your graduation, you can utilize the remainder of the year and partake in various college competitions or activities.
Now to dispel your doubts, I would like to assure you that both ESCP and Bocconi are great schools. They only have a slight difference in rankings but otherwise, they have a solid curriculum and an employment rate of more than 90%.
Being such excellent schools, they are usually frequented by big 4 companies and other top recruiters. Hence, post-graduation, you would have ample of opportunities to work in big firms.
Alternatively, as you have such a strong desire to work in London, I would suggest you to take up a Master’s program in the UK.
You can definitely target schools such as LBS, LSE, ESSEC and if you have a GPA of more than 8.5, consider Imperial as your option. All of these are world-class business schools and would set you up for a prosperous career in London.
Not to forget that schools are not looking for one specific thing, they are in the pursuit of a holistic applicant, one who will be a good fit with their values and has a clear focus on his goals. So make sure you highlight your strong achievements, Highlighting places where you have made an impact and strong essays which showcase your profile that would definitely enhance your admit chance to a great extent.
Further, We would be glad to help and figure out what are the best schools you can target and improve your admissions chances. Feel free to set up a call for a strategy session with one of our consultants and discuss all your queries.
