Hunter: Hunters alone are blamed for the decline in Greenrock National Forest’s deer population over the past ten years. Yet clearly, black bears have also played an important role in this decline. In the past ten years, the forest’s protected black bear population has risen sharply, and examination of black bears found dead in the forest during the deer hunting season showed that a number of them had recently fed on deer.
In the hunter’s argument, the boldface portion plays which of the following roles?

A. It is the main conclusion of the argument.
B. It is an objection that has been raised against the main conclusion of the argument.
C. It is a judgment that the argument opposes.
D. It is a finding that the argument seeks to explain.
E. It provides evidence in support of the main conclusion of the argument.

yes the ans is A.

it can be rephrased as follows
Only hunters are blamed for the decline in the deer population in this particular forest. However, over the past ten years, the black bear population in this forest has increased significantly. Also, examination of dead black bears that were found in the forest during deer season revealed that these bears had recently fed on deer. Therefore, black bears, and not just hunters, must have played an important role in the decline in the deer population

IMO A ..... good thing is that its has this conclusion trigger word Clearly also ... which make it perfect for the conclusion.

Even if you still have confusion .. try to arrange the lines in the argument in cronological order and you will find that the final statement is this one (which is the conclusion)

1) hunter are lamed for decline deer population
2) Past 10 yr black bear population has risen sharply
3) examination on black bears shows they have recently fed on deer
4) clearly, black bears have also played an important role in this decline in deer population

In the hunter’s argument, the boldface portion plays which of the following roles?

A. It is the main conclusion of the argument. -> the argument above says this as main conclution and thus supports this with additional premise ,bear popu increase and there bodies and all.
B. It is an objection that has been raised against the main conclusion of the argument. -> nopes .this is incorrect since the argument itself contradicts hunters being blamed and places this as main concl.
C. It is a judgment that the argument opposes. -> nopes .argument argues in favour of this
D. It is a finding that the argument seeks to explain. -> its not a finding or premise, its the final concl hunters gives on the basis of few prmises
E. It provides evidence in support of the main conclusion of the argument. -> its not the support statement and is the main point in the passage

"Yet clearly" hits the conclusion of the argument.
