Re: Bombed the GMAT [#permalink]
Madie,

I got a 620 the first time I took it too in Sept (Q42, V34). I re-focused on Verbal a lot, specially SC. CR and RC were generally good for me. I took my test today and got a 700 (Q44, V41). If you are planning a Dec re-take, my recommendation would be to focus intensely on the SC rules and Gprep Qs. Hunt all those questions down from the various forums (gclub, mgmat, urch etc.).

Hi,

I took my GMAT exam today and scored a dreadful 620 - Q: 45, V: 31 :( . I used OG 12, Kaplan GMAT Live Premier and Kaplan 800 and prepared for 2-2.5 months only. I scored a 660,630, 600, 610 on 4 Kaplan CATs and 620, 640 on GMAT Prep CATs,which I took just a week before the real test. I did not pay much attention for verbal during preparation and now I see the result of that; but I was over confident about my verbal skills(SC and RC) only because I scored high on TOEFL - I learned a lesson here. I am planning to retake the test in December as most of the schools to which I am applying have deadlines in early January. Please advice me on how to improve my score.

Thanks!

Hi

The GMAT Preptests are usually the most accurate predictors of your score. You can expect to get anywhere from +/- 30 points usually from your GMAT Preptest score. I would follow some of the advice on this thread if you are planning to retake in Dec. Consider purchasing another set of practice CAT tests and save re-taking the GMAT Preptest for the end of your studying.
