Booth EMBA: Possible to Apply Successfully with Only Weeks To Go?Chicago Booth is known for its exceptional EMBA program, which is one of the best EMBA programs in the Midwest region of the United States. The Booth EMBA final deadline is on April 3, 2017 for a 2017 start. You may be one of the many potential EMBA candidates who realized only recently your desire to apply to an EMBA program, or perhaps you recognized your desire for this advanced degree earlier, but the demands of your job have prevented you from completing the application thus far.
So, the question is: Is it possible to prepare a successful EMBA application to Chicago Booth if you only have weeks before the deadline?
The answer is yes! You are in good company if you have not yet completed the application. But, you should get moving as soon as possible.
One bit of good news is that Chicago Booth now accepts the Executive Assessment exam, which is much easier to prepare for than the GMAT. You can certainly put together a winning Booth application if you plan and execute well. Here are the top steps you should take:
1. Approach recommendation writers. We place this as #1 when a deadline is only weeks away, because you need to determine the ideal writers, approach them and get them “on board” for your application. Let your recommendation writers know when you will need a draft from them.
2. Determine your strategy. If you need assistance determining your competitiveness and whether you will need to try to offset a profile weakness through your essays or recommendations, consider getting feedback through our free profile evaluation. 3. Create a timeline. Set out a schedule for yourself, so that you make sure you can finish your application excellently and on time. You don’t want to miss the deadline because you failed to pace your work.
4. Revise your resume. This is particularly important if you plan to send your resume to Booth for a discussion before the deadline. Even in an early discussion, if you present a resume that does not show your credentials in the best light, you may make a negative impression and then have to try to overcome any red flags that an ill-prepared resume created for the admissions reader. Remember, there are some key differences between a business resume and an application resume, so make sure your application resume is well-tailored to aid your efforts to gain admission.
5. Research the program. Do more in-depth research about the Booth EMBA program, scouring the EMBA website, chats, webinars and blogs, and reaching out to alumni members or current students. Draw on what you learn as you write your essays.
6. Think through your short-term and long-term goals. You should refine your written statements about your goals, so you can present them as assets in your Booth application. You want both your short-term and long-term goals to work for you as great assets in the MBA admissions process.
7. Begin drafting your essays! The MBA application is considered your “marketing package” and you want your essays to be outstanding.
