Hi, I'm getting my Ph.D. in education now, but thinking about breaking into consulting after graduation. My undergraduate degree was in IR, and I did TFA right after college (got a master's degree while teaching). I realized that I like working with problems from different industries and meeting new people, so at this point, consulting seems like a good fit. I have about a year before I graduate. So I want to make the most out of this time. Because I have little knowledge re: how to transfer from academia to consulting, here are some of my questions:
1) Should I take the GMAT to be competitive and to prove my quantitative skills? Based on my GRE score, the GMAT score will be 690.
2) Would the recruiters look at my transcripts? If so, which ones?
3) In addition to joining my campus' consulting club and starting a mentoring program for ~50+ students, what else can I do to boost my chances?
4) Because of my experiences in teaching and education, I think human capital consulting could be a relevant field. Am I right or is that an oversight?
Any kind of feedback would be very much appreciated!
