I've worked 2.5 years as a consultant in IBM's consulting practice in the public sector, the work I do is essentially process consulting, mostly operations for the government, although I've been on a few commercial projects. I'm growing increasingly tired of this line of work, and would like to break into Investment Banking, and have a few questions in mind that I hope someone more knowledgeable can answer, I'm planning on applying next year and enrolling in fall of 2011:
1. Do Business schools look down on people who want to switch careers into IB and communicate it in the application? (as the general public seem to feel)
2. Is it difficult to get a job in IB after I get the MBA degree? (what is the cutoff in the ranks of schools in terms of a realistic chance of landing a job in IB given my experience? top 30?top 20? top 10? )
Thanks so much!
