How hard is it to break into investment banking (sales & trading or underwriting) outside the top 10? I'm not looking at BB. A regional or boutique is fine.

A second 3underscore. Difficult, but since you already know what you want, you should start networking with S&T and get yourself familiar with the industry and the players.

Well it totally depends on the macroeconomic situation. I graduated from a top tier school in London (was reading Economics), but since the UK economy was very bad, very few offers were given by BB's.
