The last letter is clearly a joke... but there are others which are equally stupid and yet seem real... People are insanely paranoid and dumb. I mean, really, you think the school is going to think you intentionally tried to suggest you are about 90 years old ... just read on:

I am an international applicant from India awaiting my R2 decision. I have gone through my application with a fine toothed comb and found 2 inconsistencies. I wanted to know if you thought I should bring this to the attention of the Ad Comm.

1. In the column for "How many years of Work Experience will you have by the time you matriculate", my answer was "72".

I misread at the time of writing the application that this meant months and not years. It's a typo on my part. However there are three other areas of the application where this mistake has been addressed.

a. In the detailed employment section, ALL the dates supplied are correct and they do add upto 72 months.

b. In one of my essays, I have made an explicit reference to my work experience by saying, "After having worked for XX months, I feel..."

c. My DOB notes that I am 27 years.

I have received an interview call and have also noted my work experiences in detail to the interviewer. SO...should I write to the ad comm and note this anamoly or should I assume that this was self evident?

2. My first assignment in the US was with a company that was located in the tristate border area of Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky. I used to work in an operations support center in a warehouse that was situated some 10 miles from downtown Cincinnati, OH. However the warehouse was physically situated on the other side of the Ohio river in the state of Kentucky.

In my application, I said that I worked in Cincinnati, OH, while the precise truth is that I worked in a suburb which was called Erlanger, KY.

During all the time I worked there, almost everyone I knew told that they worked in Cincinnati. In fact, the airport which serves Cincinnati, CVG, is in Kentucky.

Again, this is a technicality. The zip code of the place I worked in is different from that of Cincinnati but really, Cincinnati was the hub for businesses in that area. I don't know if this is a lie, but certainly this was my interpretation of the location. Again, do you think I should write to the Ad Comm about this?

Q: I worked for a multi-billion dollar startup that I founded but which has unfortunately since disappeared without a trace as my partners and I were too busy making money hand over fist to do anything like set up an office, hire employees, or--in fact--do any business whatsoever. Should I submit a safety application to a school that won't check these facts?
A: You won't be the first applicant who has worked for a company that has since gone out of business. You need not worry, unless the company never existed? Cheers.

Some of them are pretty intense. I guess adcom's get all sorts of applications. Sounds like a never ending job.
