The thing is, even though you see some companies hiring gazillions of students from a specific school it doesn't mean that this specific company is hiring for what you'd like to do.
You mentioned a good example and I will give you another one: Investment Management firms, they hire lots of MBA students, to do Equity Research, if you're into this, that's alright, but if you're like me who doesn't like it, then you need to be in schools that can put you into IM firms (Mutual funds or alternative managers) into other kinds of positions. Fortunately for me, companies hire people here in Chicago Booth for things other than Research, though it's obviously much more difficult to get into.
Oh, BTW, Private Wealth Management is one of the few jobs in Banking that you can have a decent lifestyle in terms of how much time you would spend working and still make good bucks.
PS - I'm not saying that Equity Research is not a good job, it's not a good job for ME. It's like searching the schools, it' about fit.
