By how much is the greatest of five consecutive even integers greater than the smallest among them?

(A) 1
(B) 2
(C) 4
(D) 8
(E) 10

Easier way is to take an example, 2,4,6,8,10
10-2 = 8
So option D

The difference between the first and last element in an AP sequence is always (n-1)*difference where, difference is the difference between the consecutive elements.
(5-1)*2 = 8;

(A) 1
(B) 2
(C) 4
(D) 8
(E) 10

We can let the first even integer = 2 and the last even integer = 10, so the difference between the greatest and least is 8. This difference holds no matter which 5 consecutive even integers are chosen.

Answer: D
