Dear folks,
I recently sat for the gmat and something extremely disturbing took place at the test centre. Here is what happened:
Upon completing the IR & AWA section, I took my break. After the break, before starting the quant section, the test administrator insisted that I should use a calculator. She literally wanted to handle me a calculator. (yes! a handheld calculator with all the sorts of operations). She insisted that calculators are allowed by Pearson for Gmat. (In fact, the calculator was stored in the same drawer in her desk as the yellow scratchpads for Gmat). As it looked like, lots of folks who sat for the Gmat in the same place had the chance to use a calculator in the quant section. I refused to use the calculator and warned her about the correct procedures. She said it was a new policy for Gmat. I insisted that calculators aren't allowed in the quant section.
I canceled my score. Never taking the gmat again in the same test center.
Anyone has seen anything similar? I just emailed pearson. Hope they do something about it.
