I wanted to apply to Ross too but my 3 yr undergrad turned out to be a year too short.

Are you having the same issue at other schools?

Not with any of my other target schools - Darden, RSM, LBS, IESE.
Although I don't plan to apply to MIT I did check with them too and they said a 3 year undergraduate degree meets their requirements.

Hi...

I'm thinking about Ross if I can get it in R1, else it would be R2... so, how are things with everybody else?

nothing spectacular about my stats
710, 3.0, 5.5 yrs
banking/finance/marketing/adult entertainment....

That last thing might turn a few heads during the application process...especially if you were a performer so to speak.

Haha. was just pulling your leg :P I should have turned my dot com into a porn site

I would love to be a porn star looking to do an MBA... I'm sure I would be able to bring diversity to the class and lots of teamwork.....

Wow ....now thats value addition and diversity for a MBA class....Count me in for R1.

Are my eyes deceiving me or is there no place to enter GMAT scores on the online application? They only ask for the test date. I guess they pick the score directly from the official report.

My wife attended the info session of Ross (Along with some other schools) at the MBA fair. And she said that she was very disappointed by the personalities of the alumni that Ross had brought. She was surprised that an MBA from Ross didn't do much to improve their personalities.

Now those guys might be amazing people with amazing achievements, but by not showing charisma and excitement, they ruined the reputation of their school slightly. Although we are taking this "one single experience" with a grain of salt, but I can see that my wife seems more excited about Duke and Cornell than Ross.

This shows how valuable the info sessions can be sometimes. I am surprised that Ross wasn't more careful about the alumni that they brought. I've seen that top schools are usually pretty good at selling themselves at these info sessions etc.

mNeo, can you share your wife's experience with us? In what ways were the Ross alumni less impressive than otherss. My experience with Ross alumni and students have been awesome and is one of the reasons I so strongly favor the school.

As I said, this was a "one off case" .. and can not be the true reflection of Ross alumni in general. But I was more surprised at the school using such alumni to sell the school instead of some more outspoken and "excited" people.

My wife found one of them too dull. He didn't show any excitement about the school and didn't bring up any interesting points about the school. He had only started looking for a job in the bay-area .. so he didn't sell the "career placement" aspect very well either.

Now she is finding if there's any Ross specific info session in the bay-area that she can attend in future.

They have a great football stadium that when filled is known to create an electrifying atmosphere.

I am a big fan of Michigan football. Let's see if the BCS is kinder to them this year.

Sorry, but after the past two weeks and since I'm an OSU alum, I just had to pull this quote back out! Actually, though, the feeling around Columbus is that we hope they turn things around so that when we go there to play them, it will be a more meaningful game!

To get back on topic, though, I've known several people who've gotten either undergrad or masters degrees from the U of Michigan and they all really loved the school and community.

BUMP. No essay related activity on my favourite school thread!

Who's actively working on the Ross essays? How close are your drafts to completion? I was impressed with my initial drafts, but when I read them now, they stink.

I am applying for R2, so I haven't started my Ross essays yet...
However, I did visit Ross on Thursday, Sep. 27, and was VERY impressed by the program, culture, and students. I highly recommend attending Ross's Preview Day if possible to truly experience the school.

Did you get to sit in on classes during the Preview Day, or was it structured similar to the GSB Live event?

I did get to sit in the class. It was an elective for 2nd-year students called something like "New Game Plan." The course deals with strategy to adopt to new business developments and is closely connected to marketing curriculum. I liked the professor and the students' participation in the class.
