Just hit submit and shed the $250 fee. Feels very good! I went to the event today, Mary was there indeed. It was a nice panel and a lot of questions were answered. I very much would like to attend Columbia, so now we'll wait and see. My app is complete, with rec's etc submitted.. Best of luck to us all!

Another day passes without any news from the adcom. The wait is killing me! The timeline for my application is as follows

App Submitted 8/3
Interview call 8/9
Interview 8/17
Interview complete 8/24

I believe that the adcom is deliberately stalling their decision so that they can have a look at a larger pool of applicants and then give a decision accordingly. Do you guys think that I can expect a decision before 20 September or it will take even more time?

Moss- How long did you have to wait after your interview to receive your admit?

Hi guys,

I heard there is a word limit of 2000 characters for each of the responses to the rec letter questions. Is this true and does the recommender have some flexibilities to exceed that a bit? I was telling my recomender that no word limit for CBS... Pls let me know. Thanks tons!

Your recommenders have to enter their response (or paste their response) into text boxes online. I do not think that these text boxes allow you to enter more than 2000 characters--even if you recommender wants to.

Once you reach the limit, it simply prevents you from typing anymore characters...

Thanks for your reply. This is very helpful. Do you know if there are any other top 7 schools that have a word limit for their rec letter questions? Thanks

Not really sure, I do know that Kellogg recommends your letters be between 2-4 pages total.

Papal, I can't confirm nor deny your speculation but it certainly feels that way doesn't it? I mean if our apps have been complete for 2-3 weeks and people who went complete at the same time but got dinged have gotten a response... makes you think that. I can just picture a stack of app's waiting on final Yes/No piling up on the desk and once it gets big enough and has a round group of various candidates they just bang them out. Confusing considering it's listed as "rolling" admissions.

Oh, and from the site... it appears the next info session is on Thursday... so maybe that gives them some time today/tomorrow to review?! :P

Yup that's me! I guess it didn't take me too long after the interview, but I was probably one of the last EDs to get in, so I suppose I had waited enough by the time I got to my interview.

I wish they wouldn't let me know the process - since it printed and is under review so quickly, I am all the more anxious. I went to a small liberal arts school, not ivy in any way but still a very good reputation&curriculum, and my experience there was that the school was not there for you; you were indeed there for the school. Tuition increases out of this world (freshman year $30k, sr year ~38k) and an administration that more/less treated you very poorly. What I've seen at Columbia, and what other people have told me, is a totally different approach. Yes, it is expensive to go there, etc, etc - but the school understands you will (hopefully...) add value and you're ctually treated as a team member, for the lack of a better term. Anyone else with same impression? Moss, how about you? Mary was such a sweetheart yesterday and the alumni & current students were all very forthcoming, honest and, well, nice.

In the 2011 thread, 4-5 people had already received ED decisions by this time.

Reading through the 2011 thread is a dual edged sword - it gives me something to do while waiting (good), while making me overanalyze everything CBS says or does (bad).

HAHA, Fudge... I am w/ you on that 100%. Someone commented on me last week about me trying to analyze the time of day when admissions calls came out :P. When I get paid (the big bucks, eh?! :P) to analyze and make strategic decisions for my company... I can't help but analyze stuff I'm actually interested in knowing! ;)

I confess.. I was making charts to empirically estimate when I should hear back based on last year's info.

I even formatted it :P

My biggest issue is that I have an interview set-up with Tuck for next Friday and don't want to waste their time or the money involved with traveling & lodging if I am admitted to CBS... further, I haven't written any more essays since submitting ED :P
