Your grades and gmat score fall within the Zicklin range however your work experience does not. If you can show that you are determined and ambitious in the essays, you should stand a fair chance. The rest of your profile looks fine with the exception of work experience. Most MBA studens at Zicklin have at least 5 years of significant work experience.

Your GMAT score, gpa and work experience fall within Zicklin's range so I definitely think you have a chance. Fall 2010 apps are due by May 31 btw so you have a few months to apply.

Best of luck. I'm taking the gmat on april 10th and plan to apply by the end of april.

Seemak,

As you can see, not many people on here are applying to Baruch... Nonetheless, I wish you best of luck on your interview.

I had a question for you - did you apply with your GMAT score of 450? Or did you retake? I ask because if you were able to get an interview with that score, most likely they will be asking you questions pertaining to how other areas of your application compare against your GMAT score which is within their range but on the lower end.

For example, if you have great work experience or a great undergraduate record, mention those items specifically and what is it about either area that will ensure the interviewer(s) that you are willing and capable to take on an MBA degree at Baruch.

Best of luck and be sure to revert back with your experience!

Submitted my application yesterday, May 3, 2010. I submitted it with both the required essay as well as the optional essay. I spent a considerable amount of time painting adcoms a clear picture of my professional work experience and my academic ability. They said I should hear back from them in 2 weeks time.

::Fingers are crossed::

Does anyone know if work experience is looked heavily on for MS accounting at Zicklin? I know the MBA requires 2 year experience but not sure on MS accounting.

GPA: 3.2
Major: Social science
Top 50 undergraduate
GMAT: 600
Work experience: Less than a year of full time exp

What are my chances of getting into MS Accounting at Baruch?

hi shadow,

i'm definitely retaking. deadline for the spring 2011 semester is oct 31 of this year so im thinking about taking the gmat again in september or so. i thought i would never have to look at those books again... the one good thing is that baruch will tell you why you didnt get into their program... so about 4 days after recieving the admission denied email, i got a letter in the mail stating that the reasons i did not get in were because of my gmat quant and verbal scores.

anyway, my case is proof that a stellar profile and horrendous gmat score will not win over adcoms, at least at baruch...

Hi psmusso, when you asked "Any advice??", did you mean any advice for the re-take that you may be planning to do? If so, check out some of the other GMAT advices under GMAT section of this forum. There are a lot of resources here to help people to boost their score. However, since application is due in about a month for you, it'll be hard for you to concentrate on both the GMAT and the application at once. My suggestion is to either go with your current score and write a kick-ass application, or push back a year and really study for the GMAT.

Thank you for the response. I guess more specifically how does the 480GMAT score with my other stats hold up against the requirements of BARUCH.

Would you guys mind taking a look at my profile:

took the GMAT yesterday 570 (Q33, V35). rescheduled for 10/30, right before the cutoff for applications
Undergrad GPA of 3.1 from SUNY Albany, Accounting Major
3 full years big 4 audit experience on a fortune 100 client
decent amount of extracurricular activities during undergrad and at work

I called the Baruch graduate admissions office and asked if i should retake the exam and they said yes. i dont think i spoke with a counselor, but i signed up to take it again. i wanted to get a 600.
