Hi All ~

I was able to speak to members of our Admissions team tonight, and they notified me that interview invitations have started to go out to MBA/MPH applicants, applicants from within the United States, as well as applicants outside of the United States (including India). Interview invitations can continue to go out up until the decision deadline.

Best,
Lauren

Thanks Lauren for providing us with the information. I hope to see my interview invite sometime soon. Thanks again.

I have not received an invite. Truthfully, is it getting late? My experience with the other schools was that no news was a bad sign. I either got an interview immediately or simply got dinged without one. 3.9 from Ivy, 720 GMAT, artistic background in the visual arts and music. Every school says they want diversity and that they accept students with a lack of traditional work experience. But I have leadership, I have extracurrics and all the bells and whistles there, and the response has only been lukewarm overall. Is it lack of quantitative preparation? I don't get it, though - if they really do want opera singers and writers and fashion designers and hardcore athletes (as some of these programs claim they do) - some of the best of those people don't have extensive quantitative experience, just from the nature of their field. And how are these people any less qualified than the rest? Career switching is a valid reason to get an MBA. I would think that outstanding people from another field would have a particularly strong case for getting an MBA. Of all people, they would need the training in finance, economics, accounting, etc. I don't believe in complaining. I'm just trying to better understand the process.

So truthfully, is it getting late? And is there an order to the interview invites?

Hahaha, HockeyFan, you make me laugh. While I don't have quite as good as stats as you do, I'm an architect (w. a Master's degree) so I totally feel your pain. It's like what do I have to do to get into a school around here? I'm artistic, innovative, and culturally minded. I have a bunch of leadership roles through sports and non-profits. I know exactly what I want to do, and I feel I have all the skills necessary to do so except for how to make the numbers work.

Reading the Wharton forum, someone commented that there were far fewer "entrepreneurship candidates" who were accepted this year, and speculated that it might be because of the current economy. I think he basically thought that schools want to accept people who will be able to get jobs/advance their careers immediately upon graduation, and because of the current state of the economy, those of us who have entrepreneurial dreams/non-traditional backgrounds might have a difficult time solving them due to the lack of capital out there. I figured I'd offer it out there for what it's worth. On the other hand, I'm just wondering now if my essay's really sucked (though all my friends thought they were really interesting/inspiring).

I don't know any applicants from the artistic background, so don't know what to comment. One observation I have is that there is usually a very small number of poets, artists in any given top school, so I guess you have to make your case strong (why b-school, and what can you contribute) to make you stand out among your pool. I do understand that it can be frustrating coming from a non-traditional background and not having many peers to compare and assess your own candidacy in the application process. So I just want to share this blog I saw awhile back, artists do make it~ so don't give up :)

Lauren,

I have applied to Rd 3 at Haas. I havent sent in my official score report yet. I can order one now or wait if I get invited to interview.
When does Haas need this in the admissions process?

Thanks

numba,

As it states in the application, they want you to upload a scanned image of your transcript, subject to size limits. You'll only need to submit the official transcript if you are invited to interview.

So if you have an official transcript on hand that you can scan and upload by the deadline, that's all you need for now. If you don't, order one ASAP to come to your address.

I think he is referring to his GMAT official score report which I believe Haas requires by the deadline.

Call for anybody based in Mumbai, India who was interviewed by Mumbai based Alumni.

Got an interview invite, as a part of R2 app. Likely to be scheduled this week itself.

Just needed few tips. So looking forward to the same

Well, I started my career, post my mechanical engineering, as an entrepreneur by setting up a textile weaving unit, with the support of my brother. Eight months into this new venture, I came across another opportunity of becoming a dedicated vendor for a leading company in rolling mill technology, by setting up an adhoc equipment manufacturing facility for them. Due to some unforeseen reason reasons, I had to close down this business within 11 months. Since then i.e from Dec 2007, I have been working in India's largest private steel manufacturing company in the marketing & sales domain. In all I have a professional experience of 42 months, which also involves working in the philanthropic arm of the group I'm currently employed as an volunteer for the past 1 year.

Have also been involved in few extra curricular activities in sport pre and during my career and have had my share of involvement in community related activities during my undergrad period.

However my career goal is to venture in sustainable enterprises centered around clean technologies, which is primarily the reason to pursue MBA at this juncture of my career and also the reason for selecting Haas for its C2M program.

I just received an interview invite but it's not for Super Saturday - i.e. there was nothing specific about Super Saturday mentioned and when I went on the website, there was no availability for 3/6.

Should I still try to come up that weekend and interview the Friday/Monday? Or am I not allowed to participate in the activities?

Yes, I too am wondering when the invites will go out. I am based out of Beijing and can't make it to Super Saturday. I am a California resident, but working abroad.
