Interestingly enough. I asked them that if I retook the GMAT when do I need to submit a new score for it to be properly considered. She took my name, put me on hold, then said - let me transfer your to an officer. and bam! I asked her 4 times if she was absolutely sure. haha

This may be impertinent, but may I ask what your GMAT score was?
Have you discussed chances of admission if someone applies after the merit scholarship deadline of 01/04/11? If so, can you send me a link to that page. I tried looking for it but 140 pages is a lot of material...

Congratulations What a wonderful feeling it must be!
I could not make the deadline of Jan 5th to columbia. Is there any significance of that deadline besides scholarship (as it states on the website). Since columbia is known to be rolling, i can submit application even in late Jan/Feb, correct?
Is there any point in applying in late Jan, and is there is significant drop in chances after jan 5?

If you feel confident about your application, just submit it as soon as possible and don't worry about chances. You will not have a chance if you don't apply right?!

You can apply anytime, but I read that CBS receives over 80% of its applications by the Jan. 5th deadline. That makes post Jan 5th roughly equivalent to a R3 at another school in my opinion. That being said I applied post Jan. 5th but only a few days.
hey guys- i know they ask you to submit official transcripts after you are admitted. what about official GMAT report?

Yes. From the Application Instructions page on the CBS website:
Be sure to self-report your GMAT score when completing your application. In addition, if an offer of admission is made, you must submit an official score report via https://www.mba.com. Columbia's code is QF8-N6-52. Please submit only the score you wish to be considered for admission decisions.
I have a question for this thread - I submitted my app 1/5 and it still shows "printing." Due to my vacation schedule last year I was not able to visit CBS, but it's a new year so I have the time to go now. I know for most apps the adcom says that a campus visit will not help your admissions chances, but CBS seems to really value a campus visit (they encourage their waitlisters to visit campus). Should I schedule a trip up when classes are back in session? Should I be more strategic and go visit when my app changes to "under review?" Or should I not worry about it and wait to see what the admissions decision is?

Yes, go visit the adcom, talk to alums, talk to current students and take a class. At Stanford this may not matter, but at CBS it 150% does.
I agree. CBS has a bit of an inferiority complex to other schools, e.g. Wharton. So the more interest you can show, the better. In any case it can't hurt!

Hmm, I've talked to students of various clubs and visited an information session on-campus; but couldn't make a trip to sit in a class. Hope CBS won't hold it against me!

Inferiority complex aside, who wants to live in Philly. People seem to minimize that you have to live in a certain place for at least 2 years. That has a lot to do with where I want to go.
